Dodd was born in New Orleans and performed in local theatre and television from a young age. At 14 he went away to prep school and began directing and writing.
In 1999, he spent a year in Los Angeles working for the Disney Company as an "Entertainer", then studied directing at Tisch School of the Arts till he graduated in 2002. Since that time, Dodd has directed and assistant directed in 10 countries across Europe, Australia, Asia and the Middle East; including at The National Theatre of France (Paris), The National Theatre of Norway (Oslo), The National Theatre of Israel (Jerusalem), The National Theatre of China (Hong Kong).
Dodd has assistant directed two shows off-broadway: "Mabou Mines Dollhouse" at St. Ann’s Warehouse and "Red Beads" at The Skirball Center. He has directed numerous shows in downtown New York City, including several of his own.
Dodd is the Prez of SOLID HANG and is currently in New Orleans volunteering to help those affected by hurricane Katrina.
